Even if you have oily skin, you can expect long-lasting bridal make-up on your wedding day. Although it may not appear to be so, oily skin can be a blessing once you’ve overcome the issues with breakouts and open pores. One thing to think about is that you’ll live longer if you look younger!
There are a plethora of skin care products available to assist you in maintaining your skin’s balance. However, I will no longer include skin care on this page because I prefer to leave it to beauticians and dermatologists.
My job as a wedding make-up artist is to work with your oily skin on your wedding day. I’ll be able to apply bridal make-up that isn’t too bright or greasy. In addition, I’ll make sure your wedding ceremony make-up stays on all day.
OILY SKIN BRIDAL MAKE UP
It is critical that your make-up lasts throughout your wedding ceremony day. Unless you’re going to have a make-up artist with you all day, my advice is to avoid the dewy look at all costs. Pores and skin that are oily have a tendency to shine, especially in the T-zone. Over the course of the day, the eyelids, cheeks, and chin can also become oily.
To retouch your make-up or blotting sheets, your good friend could be a loose or compact powder. We’ll talk about which powder to use later, but for now, there’s no need to spend a fortune on blotting papers; you can get them for under £5 at Superdrug or Boots. They’ll help keep any shine at bay while preventing product build-up, which you’ll appreciate if your wedding is on a hot, sunny day.
GET READY – GET SET – GO! BRIDAL MAKEUP – GET READY – GET SET – GO!
Step one is to keep your wedding ceremony make-up looking flawless throughout the day. On the day of the wedding, I usually advise my brides to cleanse and moisturize as usual. On the wedding day, you need your pores and skin to be flawless! So, if you don’t get facials on a regular basis – don’t get one the week before the wedding – if there are any spots hiding beneath the skin, it’s best to leave them alone.
Primers should be light and oil-free – your make-up artist may have a favourite brand. Laura Mercier Oil-Free Primer, on the other hand, is one of my favourites; this light, oil-free primer will start the Mattifying process. The muse will be swayed by rich, creamy merchandise.
Mattifying products are typically light gels that glide over the skin and absorb any excess oil. It’s best if you do it before you put on your make-up. I like matte miracle with the aid of an l. a. carte because it’s far gentler and cleaner to use while still accomplishing the task.
Benefits of having open pores Professional is fantastic; it’s easy to use and performs admirably in terms of minimizing pores and fine lines. Simply put, apply before the muse.

- Each of these items can be used in conjunction with one another.
- For example, sheer Balancing all over, Velvet Tint on the T area, and Cover Tint as a contact up for the day.
FINISHING TOUCHES IN BRIDAL MAKEUP FOR OILY SKIN
When it comes to the foundation, you have the option of choosing between light and dark. Medium or full-coverage. The key is to look for lightweight, oil-free formulations or mineral powder. Avoid foundation sticks because they have a natural tendency to be oily – it’s just the way they’re made.
One thing to keep in mind about bases – regardless of which one you use – is that the more expensive the base, the more pigment it will contain. This way, you’ll be able to use a lot less product while still getting a great result. The key to using a basis is to make sure it’s in the right place. Don’t get me wrong: the muse is important, but powder is essential for keeping your wedding ceremony make-up in place throughout the day.
MAC Prep & Prime is my favourite because it’s colourless and works on all pores and skin tones. Avoid using concealer beneath the eyes, particularly if you have mature skin, as fine lines can appear to be full-fledged wrinkles. Use a large powder brush or a powder puff to apply. If you have oily skin, apply liberally and wait a few minutes before brushing it away.
Your bridal make-up should start out looking a little powdery and probably a little too matte. Don’t worry, the make-up will choose the pores and skin in about a half-hour to an hour. So, by the time you’re ready to dress and have your photos taken, your wedding ceremony make-up will look natural and lovely.
QUICK FIX FOR WEDDING MAKEUP
Mineral powders are a fantastic option for creating flawless bridal make-up for glowing skin, such as a matte mineral foundation applied with a Los Angeles carte. If you haven’t tried them yet, I strongly advise you to do so. You can use them on their own or as the pinnacle of your base if you require a flawless finish. They’re quick and simple to observe, and you can pass for a light or complete cover simply by converting how much product you observe.
If you’re just using your mineral powder on its own, make sure to give your primer enough time to settle and dry on your face. As a result, make sure the mineral powder glides on smoothly and doesn’t cling to the pores and skin.
Alternatively, you can look at the mineral powder on top of your foundation. With this feature, you may want to set your foundation and translucent powder together first.
The mineral powder can then be applied with a large smooth blush brush in a small, gentle, round motion to almost ‘push’ the product into the skin. Even if you have any cussed spots or blemishes that persist in creeping through your make-up no matter what you do, assistance is available. After you’ve finished your make-up, use a smidgeon of mineral powder as a finishing touch. After that, wait a few minutes for it to settle before discarding any excess.
If you want to copy this step later in the day, it’s simple to do so. Mineral powders with shimmer should be avoided because they may reintroduce the gleam we’ve been working so hard to get rid of.
MAKEUP FOR A DEWY WEDDING
Okay, if you require a dewy end, you may have one. The key is to start matte. In reality, you should use a placing powder. When it comes to achieving a dewy finish while creating your ideal wedding ceremony day make-up, you have a few options. Highlights are used with care. The last thing you want is to appear greasy or sweaty in your photos, which is actually a risk if you go for a ‘dewy all over’ finish. I recommend using a powder highlighter sparingly inside the areas you want to shine. Simply apply above the cheekbone and a smidgeon beneath the brow, and you’re done.
If you go down the middle of your nostril or in your forehead, you’ll undo all of the good paintings you’ve put in together with your primer, Mattifying products, foundation, and powder. Setting sprays are fantastic, and I particularly like the NYX product. However, spraying the dewy end should be avoided.
You have your personal natural dewy glow, and as the day progresses into the evening, you may discover yourself using a touch more powder or more than one of the shine-free papers I mentioned earlier to ensure your make-up effortlessly transitions from day to evening.
